As they have done for years, Walt and Maxine Tyler thrilled the kids (even the adult ones) with yet another successful and highly enjoyable community Halloween party this year. The festivities were well underway by 6pm with our safety patrol, Jack Fourie, making sure kids stayed clear of the road (and of the Haunted House until it was open for business).
Dan Lauther created wonderful head stones for the hay bales that decorated the party area (and provided seating accommodations for those of us who are no longer 10 years old and full of energy.
Community parents assembled in early morning to start the set up process, including the building of the star attraction, the Grizzly Pines Haunted House.
The Haunted House was the creation of Eric Rasbold (Left), Dave Robinson (second from the left) and Dan Lauther (far right), shown here with Dan Stevenson. Planning started weeks before the event and at 9am, construction was underway.
This handsome fella guarded the front door.
The "Wall of Masks" was amazing in the darkness. The eyes lit up and greeted you as you entered.
If you thought you couldn't buy a good "Head in a Ball" any more, you just don't know where to shop.
The Graveyard was next and was very well done!
Hello, Bones!
Walk through a passage of arms (beautifully made by Joanne Meecham) to get to...
...the newspaper room. Doesn't look particularly intimidating, does it? Well, add a couple of these:
...and a pretty strong strobe light and you've got the makings of some pretty creepy stuff!
Eric shows the newspaper room from a different angle.
The ghost who greeted you on your exit. Truly, a big thanks goes out to the parents who worked so hard to make the haunted house a success. The photos don't do it justice and the dark brought an ambiance that was not to be believed.
