circa 2006, part 2

Smiling faces were everywhere Saturday night, showing how important community strength and fellowship is in family life.  Again, I was moved by how proud I am to live in a town that comes together for one another as Grizzly Flats does.  Multiple generations of residents laughed and played together in a way that you just do not find in other places (and I have lived in plenty of them and feel well qualified to make that statement).

A fall festival of games manned by GFORCE members, 4-H kids and other community members kept the costumed children busy even past the designated Cinderella hour of 7:30pm.

The parade of costumes was impressive as the little ones proudly strutted their creations for the judges.  Kylie Venables won the honors for Cutest Costume, Tristan Hill for Best Super Hero, Daphne Carrillo for Scariest Costume and Michael Stevenon for Silliest Costume.

Jodi and Dan Lauther share a happy moment as the festivities begin.

Don't tell anyone, but Scary Dan was heard to wave and say, "Hi Marty! It's just me, Dan!" to a little boy who wasn't so sure he liked his neighbor's new look.

The 4-H members did a WONDERFUL job of helping the little ones with the carnival games.

These magnificent ghostly portraits were taken by our local photographer, Andrea Stevenson, with frames made by Walt Tyler.  They appropriately decorated the inside of the firehouse.  I'm partial to the model (she's my daughter).

Say Cheese!

More happy faces!

Dennis Henderson visits with one of my favorite community members, Lynn Shetley and..
hey, didn't that guy used to be a wolf?

Trick-or-Treat on the 31st seemed anticlimactic after the community kids spent the better part of two hours playing together and sharing time with people of all ages who truly cared about their Halloween experience and wanted to give them the memories that will last a lifetime.  As I have heard said about the spirit of the Grizzly Flats community so many times, and rightly so, "You just can't buy this."

Thanks to Maxine and Walt Tyler, GFORCE and the other community members who worked so hard to create this wonderful event!
