Do you have first hand knowledge of mountain lion, bear or other dangerous wildlife sightings?
If so, send them to Grizzly Flats Online and I will post them here!

I have learned there is a mountain lion that has been sited near Wooded Glen Drive.  Also 2 cubs have been seen down by the river behind Wooded Glen.  My neighbor has lost one of her cats and another one is missing.  I have read of 3 missing dogs and would hope they find their way home before they become a meal.  All council members and cert members should be alerted.  My neighbor's daughter has put a notice up at the post office.  Keep your pets inside if possible and take care of your children.  A mother lion with cubs could do most anything.

I was driving up Logan's grade tonight about 8pm and got stuck right behind a 350 lbs to 400 lbs bear on the side of the road.  He ran and walked in front of the rig in the middle of the road until I was at the Brown property.  Then he left the road and laid down by the Brown pump house on Logan's grade.  This is between the pump house and the Lawless property.  I called Liz and Mike, along with other residents on Logan's grade to let them know they have a bear in the area.  It might be nice to put this out to everyone you can.

Bears in this area typically eat apples, berries and human trash, but if a little dog bothers them they get agitated and make sure it is quite.  This one was middle aged about 350-400 lbs and very healthy.  Not sure why he was down in the lower elevation or community.

During the early morning on April 7th or 8th a large male mountain lion was reported on the porch of a residence on Deerwood Court.  Other than agitating the two dogs in the garage there were no problems and the lion has not been seen since.

March 6, 2007 - Walt & Maxine Tyler found mountain lion tracks the size of Samantha's hand on their property recently!

Well Hello! Last week we had a dog taken by some animal. We have a good guess that it was a mountain lion, as we have a deer highway next to our house and the deer use our pond out front as a drinking fountain. I found suspicious looking doo-doo in our front yard as well. We have a cat currently missing and are keeping our remaining dog inside because I don't think the kids could take it if we lost another animal this week. We are newish up here, and so are not  too wise in the ways of the wildlife around here.  I am doing more research and will possibly call animal control. Oh... we are located on Rollingwood Drive near String Canyon, I can actually see String Canyon from my house. We'll keep you updated if I find out anything more concrete.

January 2007:  My friend, Carolynda, hit a good sized mountain lion with her car in mid-January.  The cat ran across the road in front of her on String Canyon Road about halfway between Logan's Grade and Sciaroni.  Although it took a good thump to the butt, the cat ran away as though it was not very injured.  (Carolynda did not stick around to assess its medical condition!)
